Those Dancing Days - Home Sweet Home
You know from the opening line “Hello big family, who’s gonna cook the noodles today?”, that you are not exactly in for any great philosophical insights here from Those Dancing Days. But what Home Sweet Home lacks in weighty, thought-provoking depth it makes up in hum-along pop fun.
The scrub-cheeked, wholesome-looking Stockholm five-piece, play with the unbridled enthusiasm of a band which has just managed to pick out its first barre chords and just discovered how to pick out a tune on a monophonic keyboard, noodling along blissfully unaware of the conventions of verse and chorus.
With a Hammond to the fore, the sound is not a great distance from the Inspirals – or even Strawberry Alarm Clock – if they were fronted by a bubble-permed, husky-voiced soul siren, that is. Home Sweet Home is out on September 29, with an album In Our Space Hero Suits to follow on October 6.
The track is the five-day favourite on Q Radio’s QPM show every day this week and you can hear it on the show from 6pm from Monday to Friday.
