Guns N’ Roses finally gave an official unveiling to the title track from the Chinese Democracy album which has been more than a decade in the making.
The four-minute 42-second track was given its first airplay when BBC Radio 1 premiered the song earlier today.
The album’s mammoth gestation period has been dogged by internet leaks and ever-shifting release dates, but today’s performance ends the long wait for new material from Axl Rose. The band’s last album was 1993’s The Spaghetti Incident, although they released a one-off track Oh My God from the End Of Days soundtrack in 1999.
In late 2006 Rose announced in an open letter to fans that Chinese Democracy was due for release in March 2007, but the date came and went. Some new material – including the title track – has been featured in occasional live shows on the ongoing Chinese Democracy tour.
The album's UK release will be on November 24, while in the US it will hit shelves a day earlier. The 14-track album is expected to include the following songs: Chinese Democracy, Scraped, Shacklers Revenge, Street Of Dreams, If The World, Better, This I Love, There Was A Time, Riad N’ The Bedouins, Sorry, I.R.S., Catcher, Madagascar, Prostitute.

I think for 15 years in the studio it could have been better...

Axl Rose - the guy's a joke. 15 years!?!Weak riff, none of the raw power and grit of the band's early stuff. Slash, Izzy and Duff were always the main songwriters in the band, so I can't see the rest of the album being up to much

I think it's pretty cool - could be a sign of a good album after all.

It's not Guns N' Roses anymore, It's the Bill Bailey Band (not the wizard from Never Mind The Buzzcocks). Not a bad song, and I know I'll buy the album cos Axl is still a great singer. Also, thought the intro riff was breaking into 'I believe in a thing called love' by the darkness.

Lame. Where's the hook? And why is he singing about "breakfast time"?

So this has been the soundtrack of Axl's life the past 15 years...explains a lot of things, like the hairdo. Actually I kinda liked it, it sounded invasive and inventive. But it also sounded it was recorded in 1997. I just hope there are some "classic" Axl vocals on the other tracks - after all, he's one of the greatest rock singers ever.
