Chart star James Morrison bravely accepted The Q Challenge to busk in a busy shopping street without the aid of a safety net.
Armed with an acoustic guitar and a small PA system, Morrison swapped he glory of the stage for the humility of a small spot outside the HMV shop in Birmingham. And on his birthday too!
It was something of a return to the early days for the songwriter who was a face on the Cornish busking circuit before having worldwide success with his debut album Undiscovered in 2006.
For a crowd of around 200 people Morrison ran through four songs including Terence Trent D’Arby’s Wishing Well and Ray La Montagne’s Hold You In My Arms. He rounded things off with Wonderful World, which you can see and hear below. And he managed to rake in £182.33 during his 34 minutes on the street. All of it donated to the homeless charity Change For The Benefit.
