Snow Patrol have this week unveiled a groundbreaking approach to album sleeve art with a digital version specially for iPhone and iTouch users. The interactive first-of-its-kind package accompanies new release A Hundred Million Suns and is expected to be used as a model for other digital releases as labels make the artwork more usable.
The application is free from the iTunes store and is not restricted to fans who have bought the album. Users can use the iPhone to open origami stars, revealing lyrics, behind-the-scenes footage and sleeve notes.
The band’s product manager Liz Goodwin said the package was “a real must-have for fans.” You can download the application here: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=293544901&mt=8
Snow Patrol will be vying for popularity with throaty rabble-rouser Pink, who also releases a promotional iPhone application this week.
