The Research – I Think She’s The One I Love
Wakefield’s The Research toured with the likes of The Go! Team, Maximo Park and fellow townsfolk The Cribs in support of their debut album Breaking Up in 2006. Since then they have have been “plagued with politics”, so they say, and split from their EMI offshoot label (but signed another with This Is Fake DIY Records) and recorded their follow-up three times with different producers.
Now with, hopefully, all their issues resolved the trio (Russell Searle, Georgia Lashbrook and Sarah Williams) are throwing themselves back into touring and a second album The Old Terminal is on the stocks. First single I Think She’s The One I Love is from a golden age of slightly twee, sugary 80s indie pop.
The single is out on October 20 while the album follows a week later. The track is the ‘five-day favourite’ single of the week on Q Radio’s QPM show throughout this week. You can hear it each night from 6pm from October 13 to 17.
