Blur could be reunited: Damon

Comments

Damon Albarn has revealed that a Blur reunion is “very possible” after rekindling his friendship with the band’s former guitarist.

The Gorillaz creator, who is about to stage a residency of his opera Monkey: Journey To The West at London’s O2, said he had recently met up with Graham Coxon and the pair had been “hanging out”. Coxon left the band prior to the Think Tank album after he became estranged from his longtime bandmates and he pursued his solo career. Damon has since released a second Gorillaz album, worked with The Good, The Bad And The Queen, his Africa Express project and developed the Monkey production, while bass player Alex James has branched out into farming and broadcasting as a roving reporter for Radio 4’s On Your Farm and presenting Classic FM’s A to Z programme.

But Albarn told BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat that he is considering further work with the band which made his name.

"It's very possible I'll go back to Blur, it really is very possible,” he said. "The truth be known Graham and I have been hanging out together a bit. We had lunch the other day."

"He's great, it's fantastic to get my old friend back. So it's good but I can't really say any more than that."

Albarn added that he is currently working on another Gorillaz album.
