Comedian Frank Skinner has revealed his obsessive love of The Fall, which recently included a three-night run of gigs.
But the comic, the guest reviewer on tonight’s Q The Jury programme on Q Radio, said he had been advised by pal David Baddiel never to admit to liking the Mancunian act. “David told me never to own up to liking The Fall because people claim to like The Fall in order to sound cool, so no one will believe you if you say you like them,” Skinner said.
Nevertheless the comic admitted his devotion to the band to Q The Jury presenter Paul Rees. “I really love them, I can’t tell you the joy that they give me,” he said.
“A couple of weeks ago I saw them three times in three nights I saw them Hackney on Friday and Saturday and in Hove on Sunday and on ther last tour I saw them seven times. You know, I like em.”
Skinner also shared his views on Duffy during the programme to be broadcast at 9pm tonight.
“I’ve seen several pictures of Duffy and she’s someone I think the French call ‘jolie laide’ ….. which I think means pretty/ugly. In some pictures she looks knockout beautiful and in some pictures she looks like Billy Idol with food poisoning.”
