Operahouse – Change In Nature

Operahouse were spotted by the team who signed The Killers and have been holed up at Richard McNamara’s Halifax studio to record their debut album, produced by the Embrace guitarist (but don’t hold that against them).

The Camden-based band – who on the basis of this photograph are attempting to reinvigorate hairdos which have been unseen for two decades – recently toured with The Automatic and are currently gigging in their own right.

Change In Nature, the band’s third single, packs big ideas of climate change and sending monkeys to space into a vocal that is so full of pain and anguish you expect the singer to be constantly on the verge of tears. With an addictively wobbly synth line in the chorus and the best use of glockenspiel since Radiohead’s No Surprises, Change In Nature somehow manages to jam far too many bars into every verse but pulls it off with aplomb.
