The Raveonettes

Comments

Long before Glasvegas repopularised the sound, Danish duo The Raveonettes had resurrected and perfected the Jesus and Mary Chain-esque marriage of Phil Spector wall-of-sound rhythms and epic guitars. While the pair, Sune Rose Wagner and Jo Whiley lookalike Sharin Foo, drew plenty of short-term acclaim for debut album Whip It On – recorded entirely in B-flat minor – it failed to translate to huge sales and chart placings. Still, they have soldiered on and are now on to album number four, Lust Lust Lust, from which Blush is drawn.

“I can't keep you, I can't hold you tight, I can't love you; see, despite my hurtful ways, I still make you blush,” warble Wagner and Foo with their emotionally-detached manner over a Suicide-like rhythm and flaming chords.

Blush is released on November 17 and is the featured ‘five-day favourite’ single on Q Radio’s QPM show with Samanthi each night this week. You can hear the show from 6pm Monday to Friday.
