The Pains of Being Pure At Heart - Everything With You
Turn back to the era of the C86 jangly guitar, when tunes just belted along without any slack, guitar solos lasted four bars; it was all over and time to sweep up at the three-minute mark. This is where The Pains of Being Pure at Heart take their cue.
New York-based Alex, Kip, Kurt, and Peggy formed the band last year and released a handful of tracks on low-key releases, gearing up for a full self-titled album early next year. Musically the band are rooted in the dreamy pop of early My Blood Valentine – before the feedback obsession and the dancey sonics – and a touch of the The Smiths, or perhaps imagine The Ramones with semi-acoustics. And as with their own name, they clearly delight in littering their recordings with unwieldy but brilliant titles including the unbeatable Doing All The Things That Wouldn't Make Your Parents Proud.
Everything With You is the band’s latest single and showcases all the band’s touchstones – a wall of dreamy guitar pop with a bit of MBV-style mixed-voice interplay.
Everything With You is the ‘Five Day Favourite’ single of the week on Q Radio’s QPM show. You can hear it each night this week from 6pm - listen live to Q Radio here.
