You can’t have escaped the seismic world event unfolding on the other side of the Atlantic this week. But the election specials on US TV also saw the introduction of hologram appearances for guests. And they almost look better than when Princess Leia’s ‘you’re my only hope’ message popped out of R2D2. Here’s Will.I.Am appearing virtually.

Great to see Fleet Foxes on Later With Jools Holland this week, but - oh dear – what happened when the guitar came in? Sounded like the harmonies had tuned to the wrong key. Or was it just a bum note on the bass. Still White Winter Hymnal is sublime even with the occasional fluff. If only we could all band together to make it a Christmas number one instead of another yawn-some X Factor dullard.

Hard to tell whether this is genuine shock or another Sarah Silverman set-up. Appearing on ex-boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel’s show, the production team had unearthed some footage of her on a TV talent show as a child. She certainly looks a little taken aback and it prompts some awkward exchanges …


The Feeling have been paying homage to Video Killed The Radio Star (the song, of course, which launched MTV in the US) with regular live performances during their shows. This week The Feeling welcomed Trevor Horn, for the past quarter of a century better known as a producer but a member of the Buggles, on stage at the Hammersmith Apollo to play it. Watch it here.
