Tame Impala - Skeleton Tiger
Tame Impala couldn’t be any more 60s if they were dancing naked in a ring with daisy chain belts and paisley headbands in Golden Gate park while waving anti-Vietnam War placards. Like Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience, they create a colossal sound from a basic trio format, and their songs genuinely sound like they were recorded 40 years ago using valve amps and handmade effects pedals.
But regardless of the retro styling, the songs stand up brilliantly. After two plays you will be convinced that you have known almost every track on their debut EP for years.
Our track today Skeleton Tiger has nods to the vocal line of Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere, the spacious folk-rock of CS&N and overdriven riffing, squeezed through what sounds like a stretched C60 as it phases in and out.
