U2 were today unveiling a new recording of Greg Lake's I Believe In Father Christmas which was given its premiere to launch a new charity music service.
The (Red)Wire digital service - which launches today - also features the premiere performance of a collaboration between The Killers, Elton John and Neil Tennant with the track Joseph, Better You Than Me.
The new service has been launched by Bono’s charity organisation (Red) and takes the form of a digital magazine which it is hoped will raised cash to to save lives in Africa.
Each Wednesday, subscribers will receive an issue which will feature exclusive music from some of the world’s biggest artists, with half of the monthly fee of £4 going directly to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa. Members who join before the first issue is released on Wednesday, December 10, will become “founding members” of (Red)Wire and will receive a bonus song from Jay-Z along with the first copy of the magazine.

Other acts which were due to unveil new tracks include Dixie Chicks, Death Cab For Cutie and Coldplay.
