A string of blockbuster names is being linked to next year’s Glastonbury Festival as the rumour mill goes into overtime with still more than six months before the 2009 event.
Among the acts tipped to play the Somerset event next June are Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and Blur with a reunion the subject of much murmuring and increasing speculation within the music industry.
Blur were said to be secretly planning an appearance at the 2008 Glasto but the arrangements fell through, prompting Jay-Z to be drafted in as a replacement. In recent weeks the band have referred to the potential of a return with frontman Damon Albarn stating recently that a reunion was “very possible” after rekindling his friendship with Graham Coxon.
Organiser Michael Eavis is thought to have long been keen on getting Young and Springsteen for the event. The bill will not be firmed up until well into the New Year.
