In the middle of the worst economic crisis in over 50 years most governments would be forgiven for overlooking the achievements and influence of classic rock. Not, it would seem, the Scottish Parliament which has decided to pay tribute to AC/DC.
A new motion entitled ‘AC/DC, We Salute You’ has been filed by Christine Graham, MSP for South of Scotland. The Scottish Nationalist politician told BBC News: "After 35 years AC/DC are still contributing to music and giving fans enjoyment worldwide. I think they have long-deserved official recognition from their homeland ... and my parliamentary motion will go some way towards recognising that."
Despite moving to Australia at a young age Angus and Malcolm Young were born in Glasgow while late front man Bon Scott was born in Kirriemuir. Scott, who died in 1980, had ‘Scotland Forever’ tattooed on his arm and in tribute to their Scottish origins the band wore the Scotland football strip when they performed in Glasgow in 1978 .

Very interseting to read especially in the light of offical recognition from Australia, Spain etc. AC/DC deserve all tht is bestowed upon them. I have always felt they as a group have always given with never any tought of seeking gratification, the music alone is enough of a gift to give to the world but their shows and performances and tours are second to none and after 35 years entertaining the world yet still managing to make you feel they are playing for friends is special. It has taken too many years to realise how special a unit AC/DC are as well as being simply the worlds greatest band, it is good for a change tht not just actors are recognised for their contributions but also you can earn recognition without seeking it just by your sheer hard work and for their craft as musicians.

My problem is not with AC/DC - why would MSP's waste valuable time in the midst of a global crisis to discuss anything other than sorting our Countries problems?

About time too ! , one of the best Scottish exports , never receiving the the true accolade they deserve , ... Bon Scott - probably the best rock 'n' roll singer ever , Scotland should be ashamed it's taken so long to give these hero's the acknowledgement they rightly deserve , and what about Alex Harvey and Jackie Leven ? , these people are true greats and deserve recognition of their work at the highest level...
