Let us not forget the definitive reading of Hallelujah. Wouldn’t it be great to get Jeff Buckley to the top of the charts?

Ah Christmas time, a time for pointless nostalgia. So with that in mind, here’s a peek at what it used to be like with the Sonny and Cher Christmas Special. Yes, people used to watch this stuff ….

You’ll never be able to take Darth Vader seriously again. Even the most evil beings in the universe have an off day.

Beat the credit crunch. Help yourself to a track from a former featured track of the day artists Rob Jones, aka the Voluntary Butler Scheme. He’s giving away his Vol Au Vent EP here. And in the seasonal spirit of giving, One Little Indian records is giving away a ten-track album with original artwork from some of its key artists of the year including Kelli Ali, Underground Railroad and Asobi Seksu. You can get the album from December 20 to December 26 from the label’s myspace page here.

If you haven’t already elfed yourself, then check it out here. Load up your friends and family’s heads – or team up Liam with Robbie – and get them all dancing together with hilaaaaarious consequences. This year you can even choose the dance you want to do ….

On Christmas Day, Top Of The Pops returns for a seasonal special. To mark the occasion we present one of the greatest moment’s in the programme’s long history. During a live performance in 1988 All About Eve performed but a problem with the studio monitors meant they couldn’t actually hear the backing track which was played to viewers. Nervous foot-tapping, bemused expressions and general embarrassment all round. And if you are stuck for something to help you wind down on Boxing Day, there is a fascinating documentary on Radio 4 at 4pm.

Merry Christmas.
