Take That have scored the biggest first day sale of 2008 the year with their new album The Circus, figures showed today.
The album sold 133,000 copies just a day after the band's latest release went on sale yesterday, according to Official Charts Company data, and it is on course to top this week's chart, knocking The Killers from number one.
Until yesterday, the year’s previous fastest-seller was Coldplay’s Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends, which shifted 125,000 copies during its first day with 302,000 by the end of the week when it was released in June.
Take That's previous album, their comeback release Beautiful World became the biggest selling album of 2006 on the back of just four week's sales.
Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot said: “The success of Take That this week would be impressive enough, but, coming at a time of low consumer confidence and the particular issues of the music distribution sector, it is quite remarkable.”

I do not know that they think the rest of the followers of Take That, but in my opinion they have obtained, and with an abysmal difference, something that I was not hoping that I was possible.
This disc is, undoubtedly, the best of the whole Take That's history, and one notices that they have combined styles at the moment of composing the songs. It is a very dynamic and entertaining disc, where no song has any waste.
From here, my more sincere congratulation to four components of this wonderful group, for the great obtained result. This demonstrates that for very high that comes near, always we can improve.
Thank you for doing that we enjoy so much your music.
