The Specials Reunion Tour Next Year

Comments

The Specials are putting their deep divisions behind them for a series of gigs next year. The band, which it was thought may never get back together, will play eight dates from April 2009.

The band split in 1981 shortly after topping the charts with Ghost Town – their second number one - and there have been continual rumours and expectations for a reunion, but the members had refused.

A statement from the band’s management today said : Their re-emergence into a Britain teetering on the edge of recession and still plagued by the same divisions and problems that they so memorably highlighted in Ghost Town could not seem more apt, the songs from (the albums) The Specials and More Specials seeming as relevant today as they did 30 years ago.”

The dates are as follows:
:: April 22 - Newcastle, Academy
:: April 23 - Sheffield, Academy
:: April 25 - Birmingham, Academy
:: April 26 - Birmingham, Academy
:: April 28 - Glasgow, Academy
:: May 3 - Manchester, Apollo
:: May 6 - London, Brixton Academy
:: May 7 - London, Brixton Academy

Tickets go on sale 9am Thursday 11th December priced £32.50 in advance except London £35.
