Get Cape man hosts final Astoria show

Comments

One of London's finest venues, the Astoria, will sadly close its doors for good next week. To mark the passing of a place much beloved by music fans and artists alike, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly man Sam Duckworth is hosting the last conventional rock show at the Astoria on Wednesday, 14 January.

Aside from Get Cape ... himself, among a spate of fine artists appearing on the bill on the night will be The Automatic, My Vitriol, Frank Turner, The King Blues and VV Brown, with many more to be confirmed within, erm, days.

Tickets for the show are priced £7 in advance and are on sale now from Stargreen. All proceeds from the gig will go to the Love Music/Hate Racism and Jail Guitar Doors charities.

The venue is to close to make way for the new Crossrail network which will necessitate a larger Tottenham Court Road station. But the closure has prompted a wave of opposition from those upset by the disappearance of the well-loved theatre.

An online petition has been started by campaigners who want to ensure that the Astoria is replaced by a venue of a comparable size. You can view the petition here.
