Of Montreal - An Eluardian Instance

Of Montreal who look like some sort of arty am-dram combo, there is much to reward those who persevere.

Now 12 years and nine albums (including the supremely titled 2004 effort Satanic Panic in the Attic) into their career Of Montreal make appealingly quirky Technicolor pop that bounces awkwardly and slides sassily. One moment you could be listening to MGMT, the next Happy Mondays, although you would of course be hard-pushed to have got Shaun Ryder poncing about in feathers, lame and a veneer of body paint.

Latest single, An Eluardian Instance, is taken from latest album Skeletal Lamping and has a touch of late 80s twee-pop with its slightly rubbish brass fanfares. It is the five-day favourite on Q Radio’s QPM show each night this week from 6pm which you can hear online here.
