Pete And The Pirates – Jennifer
Despite having precious few references to swashbuckling, pieces of eight or any other subject matter traditionally associated with Pirates, Reading five-piece Pete and the Pirates’s winsome, hook-laden debut Little Death was one of 2008’s more unexpected delights when it was released in the summer. Since spending the intervening months touring the UK the band have returned to the studio with former Cure producer Dave Allen.
The resulting track Jennifer, a cautionary tale to a wayward female friend, retains all the charm of their debut - breezy, witty and undeniably infectious it comes across like a slightly less nerdy Young Knives.
Backed by Blood Gets Thin – think a home counties take on Interpol’s gloom rock template – it’s currently available as a digital download and will be released as a limited edition 7-inch on January 12th.

Such a great band. Just checked out both their new vids on babelgum. Blood Gets Thin is such a good tune, with a top video as well.
