The Invisible - London Girl
London trio The Invisible weave familiar pop threads with soothing danceable rhythms to create an ethereal fusion of the recognisable but also the unfamiliar. Seen by some as the UK’s answer to TV On The Radio, there are references as extreme as Queens Of The Stone Age and Hot Chip, which as a whole create a cohesive brand of alt-pop.
London Girl, drawn from the trio’s eponymous debut LP, is a melting pot of broad, ambitious ideas, indebted to this generation’s privileged access to countless forms of music. A funky bassline reminiscent of Chic’s Good Times sets the scene for an enchanting escape into tranquillity. Dave Okumu’s soothing vocals are complemented with subtle electro undertones.
Hearts which have already melted include those of the aforementioned Hot Chip and Foals, both of which have personally approached The Invisible with invitations to join them on live dates. Also championing the band is Radio 1’s Zane Lowe and for good reason. With the album out March 2, a bright future is certainly – ahem - visible for The Invisible.
