“Got no arms, got no legs, got no shoulders but I got a head” – no this isn’t some warped version of Nina Simone’s Ain’t Got No, I Got Life, but Tin Man by Animal Kingdom. Inspired by the Wizard Of Oz? Frankly we’re not too sure.
The south London band, recently signed with Warners, have recently finished recording their debut album with Phil Ek whose past triumphs include masterful work with Fleet Foxes and The Shins. Our track today is a demo version of Tin Man but gives a perfect, raw introduction to their sound, a haunting reverb-heavy soft rock paired with the floating wispy voice of singer Richard Sauberlich.
The band’s limited edition debut single Chalk Stars is being sold at shows
On their current UK tour with each copy coming in a hand-drawn case which all form part of a large picture. As each is sold the image and the buyer’s name are posted on the band’s website.
