Doves are among the latest acts to be confirmed for this summer’s Glastonbury Festival, it was announced today.
The trio – shortly to release fourth album Kingdom Of Rust – will be playing the event for the first time since 2005 when they played the Pyramid Stage.
Current Q cover star Lily Allen will also be among the major artists at the Somerset event which takes place over the final weekend of June. She played Glasto in 2007, although she has been attending the event since she was a child. Brits Critics’ Choice winner Florence & The Machine will also be performing.
Organiser Emily Eavis said today: “Well, we've definitely got Doves, which will be great. We've got some amazing female artists too; Emiliana Torrini, Lily Allen and Florence and the Machine will all be there. So there's a few for you.”
It follows the announcement earlier this week in the latest edition of Q that Bruce Springsteen would be performing on the Pyramid Stage on Saturday night. Also widely expected to be performing is Neil Young.
Meanwhile Blur have also been confirmed after weeks of speculation that they would be playing.
Emily Eavis said: ""We're absolutely over the moon to have them back." Damon Albarn said: "We were asked last year, but we turned them down."
