This summer’s Glastonbury Festival is already a sell-out with all tickets now having gone, organizers said today.
It means the festival is back to the era when the entire ticket stock would go weeks, if not months, in advance. The sell-out is a stark contrast to last year’s event when it was touch and go whether the event would use up all its tickets and only sold out as it got underway.
The tickets went yesterday as Britain shivered in the worst snowfalls for 18 years which may have concentrated the minds on the summer months.
A deposit scheme allowing potential festival-goers to register in advance was launched in October. They had until February 1 to complete the full payment although a few stragglers did so yesterday.
Stars of the event are still being kept under wraps although Bruce Springsteen, Blur and Neil Young are strongly rumoured to be contenders as headline acts with Franz Ferdinand and Lily Allen also among the big names lined up, Q understands.
Organiser Emily Eavis said: "We're chuffed to bits that we've managed to sell so many
tickets so far ahead, especially when you look at the weather outside.
"Thanks to everyone for keeping the faith; it's certainly shaping up to be
another vintage year for Glastonbury Festival, with a brilliant line up to
be unveiled in June."
All is not lost for those who were unable to get their hands on a ticket though. There will be a resale of a very limited number of cancelled tickets on April 5.

Having the great fortune and luck to go to glastonbury over the years it pains me to ask..why, when unfortunate not to get into the crowd at the other stage and to be left standing in the cheap seats at the back of the other stage does the Q bar insist on having the music so loud that it drowns out the lucid tones of newton faulkner and the plausible lyrics from scouting for girls. Can the sounds in the Q tent be turned down ever so for those enjoying their happy time in the Q tent and those in the cheap seats at the other stage get to listen to the artist they have trekked the muddy fields to hear? Just a thought..
