Noel Gallagher reckons Oasis should take a leaf out of Led Zeppelin’s book and get their own private jet for touring.
He says the band should be afforded the dignity of their years with a more luxurious mode of transport than a tourbus which leaves them walking into hotels “looking like a gonk”.
In an interview for the next edition of Q, he said: “We still tour like we did when we were 20. And touring as a 41-year-old father of two, in the same way as you did when you were 21, is not right. It dawned on me that we should have a jet. Why haven’t we got an airplane?”
Led Zep famously used a star-spangled Boeing 720 when they went on tour.
Noel, who spoke to Q for a live review, continued: “It can’t be that much more expensive to lease a plane for a year and fly everywhere. Because what we do is you go to bed on the bus, you get woken up at the hotel at four, you walk into reception looking like a gonk.
“You get your room key, that’s 4.45, you go up to your room and the key doesn’t work. You walk back down to reception, sling it across the desk and say, it doesn’t f***ing work. Then you get into bed, it’s 5.30 and the door goes because somebody’s brought your bags up. “Where do you want your bags sir?” Get me a plane, for f***’s sake.”
You can read the interview with Noel in the forthcoming edition of Q which is on sale on February 25.
