Bullet For My Valentine and Fairport Convention for TCT

Comments

Bullet For My Valentine and Fairport Convention were today announced as the latest headline acts to play this year's Teenage Cancer Trust shows.

Folk rock legends Fairport will top the bill on Wednesday, March 25, with support from Seth Lakeman and Kate Rusby as part of the annual series of charity shows. The band have been hugely influential and they still have a strong hold over fans 42 years after they formed. They have been credited with reawakening interest in traditional music with their classic album Liege And Lief.

The appearance marks the first folk night at the TCT shows. Founding Fairport member Simon Nicol said: “When we were asked to play for Teenage Cancer Trust, we couldn’t say no."

Welsh metalcore act Bullet For My Valentine (pictured) will head the bill for the Saturday night of the run of shows at the Royal Albert Hall. Also in the line-up for that night, March 28, will be The Blackout and Fightstar.

Bullet For My Valentine made an international splash with the release of their debut album The Poison in 2006, going on to sell more than a million copies, consolidating their success with Scream Aim Fire, which made the top five in both the UK and US charts.

Frontman Matthew Tuck said it was an honour to be playing the TCT gig: "Many of our fans are a similar age to the ones the trust supports. So it's really hit home for us that having cancer at such a crucial time in a young's person's life must be devastating."

You can find out about the other TCT shows, starring artists such as Antony and the Johnsons, Florence and the Machine, Kasabian and Stereophonics here. Tickets for the latest shows go on sale on Friday February 20. You can buy through Q's ticket service Aloud.com. For more information on the gigs and Teenage Cancer Trust, click here
