Q has teamed up with The Independent newspaper which is this weekend giving away exclusive ten-track CDs to celebrate 15 years of War Child albums.
The double album War Child: From Help to Heroes will be available in two instalments – the first with The Independent on Saturday, February 14, and the second the following day with The Independent On Sunday (February 15), both drawing on tracks recorded from the charity’s releases over the years including material by Blur, Manic Street Preachers, Radiohead and Muse.
The CDs also feature a number of new recordings taken from the forthcoming War Child album Herores which will be released on February 16 and made up of covers of classic tunes by contemporary acts at the request of the original artists.
Saturday’s CD will feature Hot Chip’s cover of the Joy Division track Transmission and The Kooks covering Victoria by The Kinks. Sunday’s disc includes Estelle’s version of Stevie Wonder’s Superstition.
These CDs will only be available with this weekend’s editions of The Independent and The Independent On Sunday.
