A little over a quarter of a century ago, R.E.M. introduced themselves to the world with a timeless gem, Murmur. Now that debut album is to be reissued as a two-CD deluxe edition on February 16, featuring a previously unreleased concert recorded in Toronto, July 1983.
It essentially spawned the genre of 'college rock' and set a template for indie-guitar acts to the present day, still sounding as beautiful and strangely impenetrable as it did on release.
The remastered reissue has been prepared with the band, and features a show recorded at Larry’s Hideaway Toronto, Canada, on July 9, 1983, as well as new essays by album producers Mitch Easter & Don Dixon, and former I.R.S. executives Jay Boberg, Sig Sigworth, Carlos Grasso and Michael Plen.
We have five CD copies of this new version of the album to give away. To be in with a chance of winning answer the question below and send in your answer by March 2.
Murmur contains the band's first single - what it its name?
