If there were such a thing as a Voluntary Butler Scheme, beyond this band, it’s doubtful many would offer their services. It’s hardly a life-affirming, charitable act like, say, digging wells in Africa or restoring hedgerows in Herefordshire for the BTCV. Ho hum. Luckily TVBS is simply the nom de plume of one-man-band Rob Jones who serves up simply-prepared avant-garde treats, that should evoke a smile on even the gloomiest days.

Here, Stourbridge-raised Jones creates a palatable slice of quirky quintessential Britpop with harmonies to rock you to sleep with the melodious ease of Badly Drawn Boy, in let’s say, one of his happier moods. Forthcoming single Multiplayer, opens with a slightly grating, repeated line , ‘I’m gonna get my haircut, even if I have to cut it myself’ and a wave of surfy wit-woos.

Bear with it though - the glittering melodies begin to overflow and take the reins of the song. But, it’s the infectiously simplistic, sing-a-long chorus that make thes track shine, charming and engaging with the listener: “Love is a game, a game for two/Love is a game, I wanna play with you”. The video lies somewhere between a South Park sketch and Modest Mouse’s Float On with its rib-tickling flash animation.
