Dananananaykroyd – Black Wax
In days of old, before there were racks of indie releases and way before you could simply find whatever you wanted by going online, you would have to ask a fairly disinterested shop assistant if they had anything other the latest chart hits in stock. Imagine how much of a chump you would feel asking for a track by Dananananaykroyd, no matter how inspired a name you may think it is. Mind you the modern world still has its problems – who the hell is going to remember how many Ns and As there are when they go googling for them? Plus, these days people can't spell the simplest of wrods/wurds/werdz. Thank the lord for fuzzy searches ….
The Glasgow-based act are soon to release their debut album Hey Everyone which was recorded in Noo Yoik. To pave the way, the band release Black Wax, which is a touch less frenetic than the rest of the album’s pace.
Springy guitar chords, shouty yelps and a chorus of whoops lace this bouncy chunk of pop which builds to a stadium-rock crescendo. The track is also single of the week on Q Radio’s QPM show all this week from 6pm each weekday evening.
