Hockey - Too Fake

The world is now seemingly a synthy disco-pop frenzy so now is the time to start throwing a bit more into the mix. Hockey chuck woolly hats ironic headbands and lashings of fuzzy guitar chords into the mix to fashion their take on funky pop.

Formed in Portland, Oregon, the band were chased for major deals after grabbing attention with their self-released Mind Chaos EP and recently headed out on their own modest UK tour prior to this their debut UK single.

Too Fake builds from a simple rhythm box claves beat, adding a sassy strutting bassline and a strident, swaggering, teasing exclamatory half-spoken, half screamed vocal. You just know it is all a building to some sort of hooky, killer chorus - a strident statement of intent, as frontman Benjamin Grubin declares : “Look out cos I’m just too fake for the world ….” The track is released today on Virgin.
