He's never been known the most techno-savvy of rock stars. Hell, he doesn't even have a computer. But Oasis's Noel Gallagher has revealed he has developed an addiction to blogging.
The guitarist told Q it staves off the boredom of hotel rooms while he is on tour as he posts his regular blogs by texting them through his mobile phone.
He explained: “Emma (Greengrass) who runs our label, said 'We’re going to have to do something because every band in the entire history of rock now has a presence on the web, but you lot don’t do anything'. Someone said 'what about a blog'? I immediately hate that word. Blog.
"I was saying 'I haven’t got a computer so how am I going to do it'? Emma said I could write stuff down and someone else could email it, but that takes out all the fun. In the end I decided that I was going to text. And after about a week I was thinking, I quite like this, blogging. So I do it on the mobile phone.
“It was great until just before Christmas time when I met someone in London who’d read them all. I was in the queue at HMV to buy some Nintendo games for my little girl. The guy in the queue was telling me stuff about what I’d been doing. I was like, 'how do you know that'? ‘Read all your blogs, mate, f***ing hilarious'.
"Until that point I’d convinced myself that nobody read it. But as soon as he said that I thought I’ve got to stop doing this, it’s really embarrassing. But I can’t. It’s sort of addictive. And it’s something do in boring European hotel rooms.”
