Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows (second left) has quit for “personal reasons” and to “pursue other musical ventures”, the band has announced.
Former Men, Women And Children drummer David 'Skully' Sullivan-Kaplan who has already has to sit in for Burrows as the band are currently touring.
There has long been friction within the band due to overpowering characters and the pressure of relatively poor sales for third album Slipway Fires may not have helped cordial relationships.
A statement issued on the band’s behalf said that Burrows had “opted for a quieter life away from the band's hectic touring schedule”. Sullivan-Kaplan will fill in for live work
until the end of this year.
Burrrows said: "The past five years in Razorlight have been an amazing experience. I am very proud of everything that myself, Johnny, Carl and Bjorn have achieved together but for personal reasons I have decided to leave the band. I will be pursuing other musical ventures."
Frontman Johnny Borrell said: “Over the last two albums and five years Andy has been an integral part of Razorlight and we will miss him. From the day he walked into our rehearsal studio it was obvious that he was an amazing drummer and he's contributed on many levels beyond that.
“He's been a great player and a great friend and I think we'll both always be proud of the music we've made together. As far as the bands future is concerned we're all looking forward to touring with Skully and getting on with making our next record".
