Tunng meets Soy Un Caballo – Robin
Experimental folkies Tunng hooked up with Belgian duo Soy Un Caballo and sensed like-minded souls. They “ended up drinking wine and swapping numbers”, according to Tunng frontman Sam Genders and after keeping in touch for a while, dreamed up this cover – an English version of one of Soy’s normally French-sung tracks.
The result is a thing of mesmerising, pant-moistening beauty, adding a continental touch to the unashamedly British feel of most of Tunng’s output, but retaining a gentle, pastoral feel.
The track will be part of a limited-edition gold vinyl 7” with the Tunng version on one side, with the original on the flip by Soy Un Caballo whose previous recordings have included work with Will Oldham, while singer Aurelie Muller has worked with Conor Oberst. Tunng are also teaming up with Tinariwen for a UK tour this month. And just where did they find that albino robin for the video?
