Less than 12 months ago Elbow were playing intimate shows for Q and slots at our Queen's Head stage at Glastonbury as they plugged their then hotly fancied Seldom Seen Kid album. But now the band are to crown what has been a triumphant year - in which they won the Mercury Music Prize and were taken the nation's bosom - with a homecoming* arena show.
Elbow are to play the Manchester MEN Arena on September 18 in what is being billed a as last waltz for Seldom Seen Kid and their last show of 2009. It is being viewed as a northern counterpart for their Wembley show last month.
Frontman Guy Garvey said: "It’s been a brilliant couple of years if, at times, a bit frantic and occasionally bizarre. To finish with a home town show is the perfect end to a perfect year." Following the show Elbow will return to the studio to work on their fifth studio album.
Tickets go on sale on Friday May 1 and you can buy tickets from Q's ticketing partner Aloud.com.
