King Creosote - Coast On By
Fence Records head honcho Kenny Anderson a.k.a. King Creosote is back with his trademark brand of off-kilter folksy pop. New album Flick The Vs is his latest release since re-uniting with indie label Domino.
Single, Coast On By sees him in comfortable territory lyrically, opening line 'I am lost/ and yet you all know who I am' setting the tone for this personal narrative; piano, lightly shimmering synth and bassy electronic beats driving the story. Still retaining his trademark slightly ramshackle but perfect delivery, it sounds less folky than some of his (now vast) back catalogue and maybe more like the Postal Service if they came from East Fife, knowing, self-aware but a bit more plaintively matter of fact.
Coast On By is out on April 27.
Album Flick The Vs is out April 20 on Domino.
King Creosote is touring throught the UK in May and June, details on myspace.
