The Horrors - Sea Within a Sea
Andy Williams (Doves): "I love the darkness and atmosphere to this song. An inspired pairing of them & Geoff Barrow on production. I love the arpeggio synths, echoes of Joy Division and New Order. A really brave record."
The track is the first taste of the band's second album Primary Colours and has been a regular fixture on the Q stereo. Forget those preconceptions of The Horrors being a bunch of poshos with silly hair and tight trousers who hang out with Peaches Geldof; oh alright, it's a fair cop, but now the music is as arresting as the image. My Bloody Valentine meets PiL with Chameleons Mark Burgess on vocals. And of course, on this one, a large dollop of Can's Mother Sky.
