Influential electronic act Depeche Mode have cancelled and postponed immediate shows on their world tour as singer Dave Gahan has undergone cancer surgery.
The 47 year old has suffered ongoing health problems, having previously being diagnosed with gastroenteritis before further tests showed up what they describe as a "low-grade malignant tumour".
In a statement on Depeche Mode's official website, Gahan "sincerely thanks his fans for their support, understanding and patience".
The band also stated they "deeply regret any problems or inconveniences the cancellations and postponements may have caused", however the changes were necessary as "At doctors' orders Dave Gahan must take a break until June 8th, to ensure that he makes a full recovery".
As a result their UK date at the O2, London on May 30, is postponed and will be rescheduled to a new date which will be announced shortly (Tickets purchased will remain valid).
The band's world tour 'Tour of The Universe' will resume as normal in Leipzig, Germany from June 8.
