Ebony Bones - The Muzik

Comments

Psychedelically-attired performer Ebony Bones is tipped by many to be one of this year's acts to watch. First garnering attention through a self-released series of singles in 2008, she sparked a bidding war before signing to Rob Da Bank's label, Sunday Best.

Forthcoming single The Muzik features a home-made looking video with contributions from 30 directors in 20 countries. The track was co-written with Andrew Wyatt who has previously worked with the likes of Mark Ronson and Daniel Merriweather. It's got summer dancefloor hit written all over it and with a string of remixes lined up for release, it's hard to imagine it not becoming one of this year's festival staples.

With a reputation for carnival-like live shows and lots of festival dates booked, Ebony Bones is following in the wake of M.I.A.'s dancey electro wake but sounding more celebratory. Not quite what you'd expect from a former soap star (Channel 5's Family Affairs) whose previous releases have included the delightfully titled Don't Fart On My Heart, a joyous rumble which had touches of PiL, Bowwowwow and The Slits.

Single The Muzik is out on May 11.
Album Bone of My Bones is due out later in the year.
