Fanfarlo are a band based around Swedish musician Simon Balthazar. Based in London, they were formed in 2006. Simon's songs are primarily pop, sometimes accented and arranged with mandolin and trumpets as well as a more conventional guitar, drums and bass line-up.
Originally intending to sign a record deal but recoiling at the terms being offered they decided to record new album Reservoir. With recording done and more equally bad terms being offered, a DIY apporach was decided and their own label Raffle Bat Records was born.
Drowning Man propels along at a consistent pace, the rythmic constant drumbeat underpinning Simon's vocals reminiscent of Joy Division. Fans of Arcade Fire will enjoy the pounding tension and appreciate the strings as the track builds before ebbing away...
