From her appearance and on-stage theatricality it's not surprising to find that Paloma Faith has in the past been an actress (appearing in the St Trinian's film) as well as a burlesque singer.
Dressed as if she's been transported to the from the 1950s and with the same list of influences that Amy Winehouse, Duffy et al. have lifted heavily from, her overall sound will be familiar to most given the success both of those artists have had.
Her take is slightly different though; the influences are still present in her voice, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Etta James and co., but where they've often sounded more human and vulnerable Stone Cold Sober is resolutely certain. Amy Winehouse and Duffy don't sound as convincingly threatening as when Paloma sings 'Take a good look/It might be your last'.
The single Stone Cold Sober is out June 15.

Stone Cold Sober - What a superb track, Paloma's voice, well what can I say she actually brought tears to my eyes, I've not heard a song for a long time that hit me like "Stone Cold Sober".
