The Answering Machine - Obviously Cold
It's a good three years between their debut single and their debut album - thanks to label hassles and the like - but hotly-fancied Manchester quartet The Answering Machine have their first full length release on the starting blocks. Having met at Manchester University and paid the bills with a stint of shelf-stacking (and picked up a new member after retiring their faithful drum machine), the band have recently been furthering their cause with recent support slots with Ra Ra Riot and Casiokids.
To ready the world for LP Another City, Another Sorry on the June 15, The Answering Machine release a dizzyingly frantic single Obviously Cold on June 1. Driven along by a chunky bass riff reminiscent of Ash's Kung Fu - with a touch of the Wedding Present - it's a record that's so busy that you feel positively out of breath and needing a sit-down after simply listening to it.
