Glasto Surprise: Bruce Springsteen plays with The Gaslight Anthem

Comments

Bruce Springsteen joined fellow New Jersey rockers, The Gaslight Anthem, for their set in the John Peel tent this afternoon. Ahead of his much-heralded headline set on the Pyramid Stage, he leant guest vocals and guitar to The '59 Sound, the title track from the group's second album.

Gaslight Anthem frontman Brian Fallon introduced Springsteen - "Can you hear that sound? I'm feeling waves from home." - before the 59-year-old strode onstage with guitar in hand, clad in a leather jacket and shades. As the crowd chanted the rocker's name, the band dived into The '59 Sound with Springsteen trading vocals with Fallon.

As Springsteen left the stage, waving and grinning at the crowd, Fallon told them: "You've been good to us and that is our present to you." After his guest spot, what other suprises might Springsteen have in store for his headline set?
