Cher is suing Universal Music Group for $5 million dollars that she claims the record company has denied her and Sonny Bono's estate through creative accounting.
The singer and sometime actress claims the royalties are due from two greatest hits compilations released between 2000 and 2003 and also containing material performed by her and Sonny Bono, when they were a mainstream folk-pop duo in the 60s, including their big hits The Beat Goes On and I Got You Babe.
The lawsuit alleges they "engaged in wrongful tactics" to hide the revenue, "The claims are meritless, and we are confident that we will prevail in court," said a Universal Music Group spokesperson Peter Lofrumento.
