Iggy Pop has had a go at The Smashing Pumpkins and Limp Bizkit in an unscripted vent.
The punk legend and hell-raising Stooges frontman has recently swapped his traditional genre for something a lot more reflective, making the comments whilst promoting his surprisingly good jazz-tinged solo record Preliminaires (sample here in the Q50).
In an interview with the Sun newspaper he said, "Anyone from Smashing Pumpkins to ... what's the one with Fred Durst?", "There are a million billion of them," he added, "and people think they're gods, man!".
Intelligence is not something he credits rock musicians with either it seems "the thing I can't stand is a rock star who thinks he's got brains. They're always so damned dull!".
What do you make of Iggy's comments? Are 'brainy' rock stars dull?

weird comments by Iggy considering he was inspired by The Doors and Jim Morrison in particular, All four Doors are alleged to have been intelligent and knew it according to their former producer Bruce Botnick.
Ilike Iggy but maybe he should concetrate on his work rather than bitching at others, hopefully then we won't have to suffer through him selling insurance
