Exene Cervenka, front-woman of legendary LA punk band X has been diagnosed as having multiple sclerosis.
The singer announced she had been told she had the condition after feeling under the weather for a while, "After some months of not feeling 100% healthy, I recently had some medical tests run and the prognosis is that I am suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. Apparently, it has been affecting me for quite some time".
"My focus will certainly be on maintaining my health--many people remain strong and continue to live their lives as productively as they had before an MS diagnosis and I plan to be one of those people."
She also stated that she has no plans to make any changes to her ongoing US tour and new solo album which is scheduled for release this Autumn.
X formed in 1977 and are often cited as one of the more accessible punk bands from the late 70s US punk scene. Renowned live performers they incorporated elements of blues and rockabilly into their music.
