All bets are on. The shortlist for the Mercury Prize 2009 has been announced. Whilst you might be slightly gutted if you'd already placed a tenner on Doves ahead of the big announce you'd be mightily pleased if you'd already taken a punt on Bat For Lashes.
Natasha Khan's moniker is the 5/2 favourite to win the Mercury Music Prize, according to Ladbrokes, having initially being quoted at 25/1 she subsequently overtook Florence and the Machine (who's currently 7/2). Fans will be hoping it's second time lucky for Natasha as she missed out to Klaxons in 2007.
Ladbrokes spokesman, Nick Weinberg, said: "We have seen money for a host of artists, some of whom didn't even make the short list. But punters have decided that it's a straight fight between Bat For Lashes and Florence and the Machine."
Former favourites Glasvegas are 12/1 to land the accolade. Fancy a punt? Here's the numbers - current betting: Tuesday July 21, 2009.
