Mazzy Star vocalist Hope Sandoval is set to return with a new album. Through The Devil Softly will be her second album with the Warm Inventions, a band she set up in 2001 with My Bloody Valentine drummer Colm Ó Cíosóig.
Plus, the day many Mazzy Star fans have long waiting for may finally come. The influential paisley underground scene band who seemed to be on indefinite hiatus have been working on new music.
Confirming for the first time that Mazzy Star they are still together despite the long absence since 1996's Among My Swan, she revealed to Rolling Stone that her and David Roback were close to completing a new album "It's true we're still together," she says. "We're almost finished [a record]. But I have no idea what that means".
The notoriously stage-shy singer will tour Through The Devil Softly with the Warm Inventions. First single from the new record, Blanchard sounds not too dissimilar to Mazzy in their heyday.
Hope Sandoval and the Warm Inventions single Blanchard is out August 4 on Nettwerk records.
Album Through The Devil Softly will be released September 15.
