Started in 1994 in Strathclyde Parkbefore subsequently moving to it's current larger home in Kinross, T in The Park has played host to many memorable sets including then whipper-snappers Coldplay in 1999 who caused a massive queue outside their tent whilst singing soon to be hit single, Yellow.
We caught up with some of this year's acts ahead of 2009's musical extravaganza to ask them about their plans for the fest, memories if they've played it before and of course, the pressing question - what will they wear on this year's newly introduced Fancy Dress Friday! (ok, well it is important to some people).
Next up: Tommy Reilly
Who are you looking forward to seeing at T in the Park 2009?
I think the line-up is unbelievable this year. There's something for everyone, definitely. I'm looking forward to seeing Elbow and Blur on the Sunday. I saw Metronomy last week and it was awesome, so I want to see them again. I really want to see Foals and Lily Allen as well.
Your debut T in the Park performance - what are you expecting?
This will be the first time I've ever played at T. I've been before but I can't actually believe I'm playing this year. I'm so excited. I hear all the bands say in interviews that the crowd is amazing and the atmosphere is brilliant. I know that is the case because I've been right in the middle of it and there's no festival like it. I can't wait to get a shot of experiencing it from the stage this time.
Festival goers at TITP do their bit for the environment too - what is your green tip for people attending T in the Park?
Probably to take everything away that you brought I guess. If we can all leave the field the way it was when we got there that would be a good thing.
How important do you think it is that established events like T in the Park give unsigned acts the opportunity to play via competitions such as T Break?
It's really important. I spent a lot of time playing in and around Glasgow and met a lot of up and coming bands who have become friends. A few of them have played T Break and it's helped take their music to a wider audience as well as given them a huge boost in confidence. I think it's really important for Scottish music that things like this keep going.
Any money saving tips for festival goers on a budget?
Find a mate who has already got a tent and loads of great camping gear and share with them!
We've got Fancy Dress Friday at T in the Park this year - what would your fancy dress outfit be?
I would like to come dressed as one of the milk cartons from the Blur Coffee and TV video. I think that would be fun and appropriate. I'll need someone to be the other one though!
Name your essential festival item - is there one luxury item you want/need on your rider for T in the Park?
Tennent's is essential. Those wet wipes are pretty good and that special hand-wash that doesn't need soap is pretty handy. Helps you think you're a little bit clean at least!
